It was a lovely day in Severna Park to Celebrate a 50th Anniversary for Tom and Shirley! Their family did an amazing job setting up a surprise party for them and many of their dear friends and family members were there to share in the fun. You might think that the photo behind Shirley was placed there on purpose but no….it simply looks like it was a wonderful reminder to be quiet and keep the surprise until the last minute! Be My Guest Catering did the food and it looked amazingly yummy!
The other part of Tom and Shirley’s surprise was a family photo session that we were able to sneak in despite the rain. As an Annapolis Family photographer it is always a treat when I am able to be a part of a birthday celebration…especially in Sherwood Forest! This family had a whole weekend of fun planned so I was thrilled to be asked to document a small part of their time together…after all that is the best birthday gift of all!
The whole family gathered in Sherwood and it was so obvious that they all had so much fun ….adults and children together. Sons, daughters, sisters, cousins, grandparents and parents….FAMILY…..that is what makes the world go round! With the busy lives that we all live it is a wonderful gift to see all these people come together to celebrate a special birthday.

Everyone was patient as we arranged and rearranged groups.Oftentimes it is difficult with such a big group…especially in hot weather when there are so many fun distractions in Sherwood Forest on a Sunday morning! Somehow we fit it all in even there were a few moments when the end of the rope was reached!

The best part of my job as an Annapolis family photographer is meeting new families. Mothers Day was the best as I was thrilled to head down to Bay Ridge to take family portraits of this adorable family. Although you may not believe me due to all the rain we have been getting, we were surrounded by sunshine everywhere on this particular morning. We worked hard to find some shady spots before we ran out of happy time and a nap was required. We hit the jackpot with an ivy covered wall on the side of the house! I had the opportunity to do just that with the Carter family in Severna Park a few weeks ago. Linstead is beautiful this time of year and, although this crazy weather has prevented lots of things from blooming and budding, we were happy to have a dry day without too much wind.
